donation and donor
A donation is a voluntary transfer of an object from an individual or a business — a donor — to an institution. Every museum seeks donations. Because U.S. government funding for the arts has been under siege lately, many nonprofit institutions have become more reliant upon the financial support of individual and corporate donors.
